I have some ‘waterproof’ hiking boots. went hiking and they got soaked and so did my feet and socks.
I’m not sure whether buying new ones is the best idea or if I can make my current ones waterproof.
My boots are suede hiking boots.

is there a product I can use to make these waterproof? or should I just get new ones? these current ones are almost brand new.

My friend and I are going to be traveling in Europe for three months. I am only taking one pair of shoes (aside from shower sandals), and am having a hard time deciding what to buy. We’re not planning on doing a lot of serious hiking, but we’re definitely going to be doing a lot of walking and exploring. I have flat feet and weak ankles. I was thinking of getting a nice pair of waterproof hiking boots – that way I’d get ankle support and stay dry when the weather’s bad. But I’ve never had hiking boots before. Would they be uncomfortable to wear every day for three months straight? Would it be better to just get a pair of motion control running shoes (what I normally wear) and forget about waterproof? I backpacked in South Africa a couple of years ago and climbed a couple of mountains in running shoes, and remember really wishing I had hiking boots. I’m just concerned about the ‘every day for three months’ thing.
Any recommendations from fellow travelers/casual hikers/people with flat feet?
Thanks!

I have 1 and a half year old female Australian cattle dog. Whenever I wear my hiking boots she will sniff them then run away in fear. But if I take them off seconds later and put them in the house she is fine. If the shoes are in the house when we let her in and she finds them she again sniffs them and runs away, she is vivsibly scared and smoewhat shaking. Does anyone know hwat could be causing this, is there a way that I can teach her not to "fear" these boots? As for the shoes they are Hi-Tec Coronado waterproof hiking boots.

What’s the difference(s) between ‘Hi-Tec’ and ‘Gore Tex’ hiking shoes? Which is better? Why the big price difference? I need it for hiking when the humidity is very high (~90%). Can I use my waterproof hiking boots as ‘wet’ shoes for water activities? By the way, what are ‘wet’ shoes exactly? Can I wear sandals instead of my hiking boots for water activities when it was mentioned that ‘wet’ shoes must be able to provide full protection to the feet?

Um I have camp in a couple of days and I really don’t have the time and money to go buy waterproof/hiking boots/shoes so I was wondering if converse high tops shoes or Uggs boots are good for hiking in the snow

Yeah I am wanting to know if such a thing exists. I’m not a rugged outdoors-man or anything, but I take nature photography and I need something to wear with a little versatility. It needs to be flexible, comfortable and very high quality. Also important it needs to look good. A lot to ask I know.
I have been finding lots in terms of boots. Unfortunately I hate boots, I think they are really uncomfortable (not enough flexibility in my foot and ankle) and most of what I have been finding are work boots which are also ugly. Hiking boots not only look like tent covers, but I have heard that they wear down really quickly in pavement.
I got in an argument with the woman at the shoe store because she told me that there is no such thing as a waterproof all-terrain shoe and I would need to buy a pair of boots. I said that I couldn’t possibly be the only nature enthusiast in the world who dislikes boots.
Basically I want to be able to wear them about town (without looking dumb) and also not worry about going on trails or muddy terrain to find nice photographs. They don’t have to be fully waterproof, I’m not planning on standing in rivers or anything… but it would be nice to not have my socks get soaked if I walk through a puddle.
I am willing to spend a fair amount on them, up to 0 if they are good shoes.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
